Commissioner Jan Malcolm, Director Emerita

Jan Malcolm has been a steadfast supporter of the Ann Bancroft Foundation since its inception, serving as a founding board member and former board chair. With over 40 years of public service, she has made a significant impact on public health in Minnesota and beyond. As Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Health under three governors, Jan led initiatives to address health disparities, championed policy changes to combat the opioid crisis, and played a pivotal role in Minnesota's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership extends beyond public health to roles such as CEO of Courage Center and Vice President at Allina Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and philosophy from Dartmouth College and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from St. Catherine University in 2020. Jan Malcolm received the 2022 DreamMaker Impact Award from the Ann Bancroft Foundation, recognizing her dedicated, on-going service to the Ann Bancroft Foundation community for 25 years, and to the broader state of Minnesota.
