Lourdes Inamagua

Minneapolis, 11th grade
2025-2026 Trailblazer Fellow

Lourdes’ bold dream is to go to college with a certain career in mind and earn a degree. As of right now, she is focusing on the career of sonography. Lourdes will use the Trailblazer Fellowship to go to Italy where she will have the unique opportunity to experience some of the most important settings, museums and cultural sites in Europe. She is certain that this academic trip will help her gain more understanding of different cultures. It will open her mind to new options, and she will learn more about herself, which will help her prepare for college and life in general.

Lourdes used her first ABF Grant for an academic trip to Brazil. It was a memorable experience where she was able to visit Christ the Redeemer and see how different people lived in Brazil. Lourdes says that she is the first person in her family that has been given the opportunity to travel to different countries and she says that it is a blessing.

When asked for advice, Lourdes shared “I would tell the younger version of myself to never reject the opportunity of meeting new places and trying new things. Sometimes it can be scary to be in places and play sports without knowing how it will go but it’s worth trying it rather than letting the opportunity pass by. I believe that we should keep climbing, exploring new things and not fall down when something turns out bad.”
